Spoken Word

The 567 has partnered with Point B.L.A.N.K. Poetry to bring the art of spoken word to The 567. BLANK stands for Believing Love And Nurturing Knowledge, and this collective of Mercer University students and local artists does just that as they use spoken word to promote unity and positive change in their communities.

Groove Speak
Groove Speak started in August 2012 and has been a crowd-pleaser every time. This event is a chance for the community to hear from both nationally-touring poets & up-and-coming local and regional spoken word artists, including the talented artists of Point B.L.A.N.K. Poetry such as published poet Mike Scott. For local poets, a limited number of open-mic slots are available, and sign-up begins at 7 pm. Tickets are $5 in advance, $7 at the door. Doors open at 7, show starts at 7:30.

The next Groove Speak is September 24. The featured artist will be Royce Lovett, a songwriter from Tallahassee, FL whose music is a fusion of hip-hop, neo-soul, and rock.
